For a number of years we have been developing the ceramic 3D printer in between ongoing client projects. The aim was to design and produce a machine capable of printing objects 1m in height and 0.5m in diameter, while keeping costs below other commercially available machines in the market. The project served as a unique learning experience for both the studio and engineering interns we had with us during the development period.
The project was ultimately completed in August 2022 by Javier Perez Portal for his final year project as part of his engineering degree in Industrial Technologies from ICAI university in Madrid, Spain. The project was overseen by former in-house engineer Carlos Sanjuan and can be read → here
The ceramic printer is now complete and available for use in the making of artworks and limited productions.
