The Sculptors Stand Stool #2 was developed after a series of conversations with Chicago based designer Benjamin Edgar about how we could produce the piece in a more cost effective manner, without emitting the material quality or form from the designers original iteration. After developing a 3D model, the metal components were laser cut and folded in 304 Stainless Steel and the legs and seat routed from Birch Ply, before being hand finished and assembled. The cutting and routing of wooden components during prototyping was by Alvaro Marote, and welding of metal components by Nave16Fundicion.  Caliper assisted Benjamin Edgar in the selection, sourcing and quoting of materials, as well as the introduction of fabrication methods that would decrease cost and better prepare the chair for batch manufacture. Upon completion, a physical sample and full set of plans was provided to fabricators Dock 6 Collective, Chicago, for the production run. Also live on benjaminedgar.com.
