As a continuation of the studios ongoing collaboration with Alejandro Marote, we worked alongside the artist to create 360°; the first of a series of kinetic sculptures. Initially the team at Caliper created 3D visualisations of the piece in CAD to produce a 1:1 scale maquette in MDF. Subsequently modifications were made to the 3D model and sent for laser cutting in Aluminium. The components were then assembled using epoxy and threads cut for fasteners to facilitate rotation of the front face. The piece was ultimately sent for painting at RDP Paintshop and returned for final assembly and testing at Caliper.
